A poem
Sunset sentinel kiss
Tasting topaz thunder
And breaking in the best way
Swishing like the tall grass
Kissing my bonny lass
And breaking like stained glass
The pained gasp
And the paned gap
As we parted for the last time
I wondered at the ink
On the letter clasp
Writing a tearless farewell
On cheerless shear pell
A peerless fair hell
The most pleasant rhyme
I think about the infinite ways
To draw your constellation
My bright sunless star
My only scar
A stitch on my heart
Ripping and gripping
And so sweetly tart
Do you think my fingers
Shape your face
Or merely trace
The name on your grave?
Gossamer lily and lilac gaze
Sinister sensers and pincer prey
What’s more than the flower
If less than bouquet?
I hear the knell, the toll
The banshee wail
The siren call,
A solemn song
In the valley vale
And glow like grace
Hearty and hale
To empty the ocean
With a little red pail
